Happy New Year! What a doozy... 

Similar to the two years preceding it, 2022 was a year of polarizing politics, deadly viruses, and shocking global events. Unlike those preceding years, however, 2022 added in a mix of historically high inflation, a creeping global recession, and a massively slumping stock market. 

What a time to be alive.

In these seemingly bleak times, we in the GGD household tend to be reminded of the reason we first established the financial goals we’ve spent numerous years pursuing. Ultimately, it comes down to freedom. The freedom to follow our passions, the freedom to visit and interact with family and friends, the freedom to travel and see the wonders of the world, the freedom to live life however we see fit. The money we save and invest is nothing but a tool, a means to an end. Our true dream is to achieve the freedom this money can provide to us. So, while in many ways the world is in the midst of some dark times, we will never take our eyes off the prize. Freedom, here we come!

In December, we saw a -4.21% change in our investment portfolio, which puts us at 113.7% of our retirement number!
