Who cares about sin?
Thursday, January 12, 2023
6 pm dinner, 7 pm discussion
at the Toronto School of Theology (47 Queen's Park Cres E)

Sin is not a word mentioned frequently in most circles. We find it easier to talk about brokenness, injustice(s), and even wrongdoing. Yet, despite not being comfortable with the church's ideas about sin, society is still capable of providing punishment for perceived wrongdoing, as cancel culture has shown us.

In light of the complex relationship that society has to sin, is it possible to see the Christian understanding of sin as positive? Not because sin is in itself a good thing, but because the Christian understanding of sin provides a way for understanding ourselves and others. More importantly, it creates space for grace, forgiveness, and redemption.

I hope you can join us for what I hope will be an interesting and provocative conversation.

Living in hope,
Brenda KH

P.S.
In case you'd like to hear a bit more about what the Bible says about sin, I encourage you to watch some of the videos on sin that the Bible Project put together.

Conversation on Learning Humility with Richard Foster and Brenda Quinn on January 12 at 2 pm. "Not only is humility vanishing from
contemporary culture, but we are also witnessing how destructive a lack of humility has become among our churches and ministry leaders. And yet, Richard Foster spent a year "learning humility" from his belief of how central humility is to spiritual formation. Out of this, he wrote Learning Humility, which is in a journal format, following his own reading, reflection, and learning. Sign up here for the conversation. Hosted by InterVarsity's Emerging Scholars Network.
