Toronto HIV/AIDS Network Updates for January 25 to 31

Celebrate the Year of the Rabbit by experiencing the new immersive and vibrant décor display at the CF Toronto Eaton Centre, inspired by Singapore Marina Bay's Supertrees for Lunar New Year.

The installation is located at Nordstrom Court from January 15 - February 9.

The HelloOntario website was developed as a resource for newcomers coming into the province to provide people with relevant HIV information that will assist them to navigate systems and services. This website is hosted and managed by ACCHO and is a joint initiative with four other provincial organizations, which are the Ministry of Health Ontario, GMSH, CAAT and WHAI.


Over 31,000 people are estimated to be living with HIV in Ontario,

yet many do not know how to access the right HIV information.


Hello Ontario is a free HIV information directory of resources for newcomers.

HIV self-testing project: what, where and how

January 26, 2023 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. EST

This workshop will increase knowledge of HIV testing technologies and approaches to testing, as well as understanding of how HIV self-testing fits within the landscape of other testing approaches in Canada. Throughout this workshop, participants will learn about the importance of testing for HIV and related STBBIs, what testing technologies exist in Canada, as well as key considerations to support people throughout the testing process.

Program Evaluation Fundamentals

Program Evaluation Fundamentals is a one-day, online training intended to support those that are new to evaluation or those that would like to increase their evaluation best practices. This course includes:

· When and why to conduct an evaluation

· Identifying and engaging key stakeholders

· Constructing your evaluation framework (ex: logic model, theory of change)

· Selecting appropriate methodology

· Developing data collection tools (ex: surveys, focus groups etc.)

· Organizing and Analyzing data

· Sharing Findings


Upon completion, learners will have the tools to create an evaluation framework for their program, understand appropriate data sources to inform their evaluation, and finally collect and analyze data.


Audience: This session is intended for ASO frontline workers. This is a virtual training.

CME Training: An Intro to PnP/Chemsex


An interactive session to explore Party n Play/Chemsex via multimedia, polls, videos, evidence base knowledge, and case scenario discussions. This 1 credit- per- hour Group Learning program has been certified by the College of Family Physicians of Canada and the Ontario Chapter for up to 3 credits Mainpro+ certified credits.

This session is for healthcare and social service providers, harm reduction and front -line staff. Build knowledge, inclusive communications, cultural competencies & clinical skills in providing patient-centered care to cis & trans GBMSM.


Learning Objectives

  • Describe PnP and populations that are disproportionately impacted

  • Demonstrate knowledge of biopsychosocial context of PnP in the MSM community

  • Practice a harm reduction approach to substance use in the context of sex

  • Develop competencies in cultural humility, cultural safety, and clinical care

First Nation, Inuit, Métis or African, Caribbean, & Black (ACB) PLDI Leadership Core training applicants can be invited to be Peer Cultural Safety Evaluator of the online training.

Peer Cultural Safety Evaluator will be compensated for 12-14 hours of evaluation work:

  • 6 Zoom facilitated group sessions of about 1 hour each, as well as individual time for the evaluation of each PLDI Core training session.

  • This is in addition to the 3 Zoom facilitated group sessions of 3 hours each, and 2 self-paced individual sessions of the Online Leadership Core training.
