As wine propositions go its never too difficult persuading lovers of top shelf Rioja Tempranillo to go for Muga's Prado Enea, but what makes today's offer so compelling is the inclusion of Muga's Seleccion Especial Reserva 2018 (WA 95) at half the price.
No Muga Prado Enea was declared in 2018 and all this deliciously beguiling fruit has gone into the Seleccion Especial Reserva - and oh was "Especial" it is...
That same swathes of chocolate ganache, hazelnut, blackberry and dried violets are all there, making this the best possible bang for your dinero you can find for 2018 Rioja.
Another class act is the newly released Muga Prado Enea 2015 (WA 97). Top shelf Rioja from 2014 aced the market-place when contrasted with the likes of Bordeaux and so we had a lot of expectations for the 2015`s. They have not disappointed, once again proving that Spain is leading the pack for quality out of Western Europe right now.
These Enea's are keepers. I have drained the last of my 2010`s @Xmas and suffered the "Oh why didn't I get more when I could" withdrawals. My shrink tells me that repeating the same mistakes and expecting different results is embarrassing and a sure sign that I need to up my meds. I am determined instead to allocate those funds to more Muga's today...
