Matthew 25 Film Series Class

Our adult Sunday School will continue studying Matthew 25 through film with a new series on Congregational Vitality.
Class will meet in the lounge at 9:30am on Sundays beginning this Sunday, January 15.

The class will watch and discuss selections from:
"All Saints", "Encanto", "Lars and the Real Girl", "The Long Walk Home", and "Walking Across Egypt"

You don't have to watch the films in advance; just come, watch, discuss, and learn about how being a Matthew 25 congregation can build church vitality, which in turn makes us more effective at carrying out our mission!
Thank you to Andrew Conner for leading this session!
Bible Study & Brew

Make plans to be at the Terre Haute Brewing Co. on Wednesday evenings in the new year to enjoy your favorite beverage and some time for fellowship, study and reflection with Central's Bible Study & Brew group. We invite all and are studying the book of Luke.

Thank you to the Rubey's for providing this week's youth night meal!

PYOCA Summer Camp Registration begins Sunday!

Save the Date!
Our annual PYOCA church retreat weekend is also set for April 28-30. This will be a weekend of fun and fellowship open to all members and friends of Central. Mark you calendars and make plans to attend.
United Campus Ministries "lunch and learn" event begins February 7
Donations for UCM

Donations continue to be accepted and needed for the non perishable food items and toiletries to the shopping cart in Fellowship Hall. These will be donated to our friends at United Campus Ministries for their Food Pantry.
Quarters for Manna
You may know Manna from Seven as a weekend food pantry. It is much more than that. It provides hair cuts as well as laundry service and so much more for our less fortunate neighbors. Manna from Seven spends around $250 weekly to provide quarters (and detergent) so our less fortunate neighbors can launder their clothes. That is a lot of quarters!
Please help by dropping your quarters into the little green donation box in Fellowship Hall.
Donations of egg cartons and plastic grocery bags are also being collected in Fellowship Hall to aid in Manna's food distribution efforts. Thank you for your donations!
We have several young ladies in our congregation selling cookies this season. We are working on setting up a table one Sunday soon to take orders. In the meantime, orders can be placed online by clicking the name below.

Deacon of the Month
We are fortunate to have a wonderful group of Deacons at Central. Each month a Deacon takes a turn as lead and takes care of the flowers in the sanctuary each Sunday as well as recruiting greeters for Sunday worship. Our Deacons also help serve communion every other month and host memorial service receptions when called upon.
The lead deacon for the month of December is Shirley Slutz. Deacons are referred to as shepherds and the list of people they try to contact and/or assist is called the shepherd’s flock.
Shirley's flock includes Carla, Frank and Luke Bailey, Claire Bailey Henderson, Nancy Cross, Donna Garrison, Brenda and Bill Green, Monica Hawkins, Brian and Vivian Marsh, Sally Moulton, Andrea and Nathan Paul-Bonham, Mike and Molly Wadsworth, Mark Carlisle, Alan Harder, Judy and James Lowe, Cheryl and Jim Moles, Scott, Sinwon, Grant and Mackenzie Racop, Linda and Mike Riggins, Barbara Schmitt, Lowell Shaw, Rachael Spencer, and Donna Wilson . Anyone in Shirley's flock is free to get in touch when you have a need or concern.

Prayers for this week:
Morning:

O Lord our God, under the shadow
   of Thy wings let us hope.
Thou wilt support us, both when little,
   and even to gray hairs.
When our strength is of Thee,
   it is strength;
but, when our own, it is feebleness.
We return unto Thee, O Lord,
that from their weariness our souls
   may rise towards Thee,
leaning on the things
   which Thou hast created,
and passing on to Thyself,
who hast wonderfully made them;
for with Thee is refreshment
   and true strength.
Amen.
   -- Augustine

Evening:

Accept, we beseech Thee,
our evening thanksgiving,
O Thou Fountain of all good,
who hast led us in safety
through the length of the day;
Who daily blessest us with
so many temporal mercies,
and hast given us the hope
of resurrection to eternal life;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
   -- An Ancient Collect.
