1. March for Life 2023 speakers celebrate Roe’s end, call for Americans to keep fighting for life
(LiveAction) - The 50th Annual March for Life took place today, but for the first time, it took place in a post-Roe world. However, abortion remains legal in many states across the country, and participants marched for the continuing goal of protecting human life beginning at fertilization. This year’s theme was “Next Steps: Marching Forward into a Post-Roe America,” and many of the speakers at the rally before the march echoed that message. MORE

2. An Update on State Legislation
(NRLC) - 2022 was an historic year that saw the U.S. Supreme Court finally end the so-called constitutional right to abortion. The decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health, which overturned Roe v. Wade and returned the abortion issue to state legislatures, was a joyous moment for mothers and unborn children.  It was the culmination of decades of work for all of us in the pro-life movement who had worked diligently alongside hundreds of dedicated pro-life state legislators across the country to legally defend the vulnerable at the state level. 2023 is our opportunity to do even more to expand protections for unborn children and increase support for moms during and after pregnancy. MORE

3. Abortion Was the Leading Cause of Death Worldwide in 2022, Killing 44 Million People
(LifeNews) - More human beings died in abortions than any other cause of death in 2022. A heartbreaking reminder about the prevalence of abortion, statistics compiled by worldometers indicate that there were over 44 million abortions world-wide in 2022. The independent site collects data from governments and other organizations and then reports the data, along with estimates and projections, based on those numbers. Worldometers bases its daily abortion figures on a fact sheet from the World Health Organization, which estimates an even higher figure for abortions per year than Worldometers. “Around 73 million induced abortions take place worldwide each year,” the WHO says. MORE

4. Research Shows Many Pharmacists Are Unaware of the Risks of Chemical Abortions
(NR) - This month’s decision by the Biden administration’s FDA to allow pharmacies to dispense chemical-abortion drugs has received a considerable amount of attention. Many mainstream media outlets have applauded this policy change largely because it makes chemical abortions more accessible. However, there has been precious little coverage of how knowledgeable pharmacists are about the chemical-abortion-pill regimen, which could affect the health of countless women. Indeed, a 2021 article in the Journal of the American Pharmacists Association found large gaps in the knowledge of pharmacists about chemical abortions. MORE

5. GOOD NEWS: The Number of Children Growing Up in Intact Families Is Rising
(WS) - Amidst the negative news surrounding the state of marriage and the family in the U.S., a bright spot is beginning to emerge: the number of children being raised by their married mothers and fathers is slowly rising. A new analysis from Lyman Stone, a research fellow at the Institute for Family Studies, found that “[s]ince a low ebb around 2014, the share of kids living with their parents has actually risen by about 1.5 percentage points.” While the relatively low growth rate might seem inconsequential, it stands in stark contrast to the overall pattern of decline in stable American families over the last 50 years. From the early 1960s until around 2014, the share of children living in intact families steadily nosedived from 87% down to around 62%. As Stone observes, there are a number of reasons behind the increase in stable households for children. Even though marriage rates are falling, so is divorce, which means that the marriages that are happening are more stable. MORE

41 Years Ago My Mother Walked Out of An Abortion Clinic and Saved My Life
(LifeNews) - My home state doesn’t require teenagers to inform their parents if they get an abortion. Connecticut law mandates parental consent for children to go to a tanning salon, get a tattoo or have their ears pierced. Minors also need parental permission to take ibuprofen at school but they don’t have to notify their parents before getting a surgical abortion or taking an abortion pill. MORE
