Ponderings

The phrase, “Annual Meeting,” isn’t one that sparks a lot of energy, passion, or excitement in most folks. But it is necessary. Like worship, refreshments will be served afterwards. Votes will be tabulated on our ministry budget and the slate of our future leaders. Will we use an abacus for the tally? Come and find out!

Our theme for the Annual Meeting will be, “What Makes You Come Alive?” Implicit in that is each one of us answers and then goes and does what makes us come alive. Your voice is important to us; your voice will be heard.

This is an important time for us. I hope you can join us this Saturday, January 28, 9:00 a.m. in the sanctuary. If you cannot make it at that time, call in your vote for the slate of people and the ministry budget by calling 623.748.3574 and following the instructions. In order to have your vote counted, please make sure to call in by 1:00 p.m. on Friday January 27, 2023

Justice Is Not for Just Us at The Palms

The Coconut Palm
A bear walks into the church’s annual meeting and says, “I want to pray… and sing.”
“Why the big pause?” asks the minister.
The bear shrugged. “I’m not sure; I was born with them.”

I have the world’s worst thesaurus on my desk.
Not only is it terrible, it’s terrible.

My email password has been hacked.
That’s the third time I’ve had to rename my cat.

I invented a new word! ….Plagiarism!

A bus station is where a bus stops. A train station is where a train stops.
On my desk, I have a work station…

My boss just texted me: “Send me one of your funny jokes!”
I texted him back: “I’m busy working. I’ll send one later.”
“That’s hilarious,” he said. “Send another one!”

You know what a clean desk is a sign of? A cluttered desk drawer.

My boss told me I’d never amount to much because I procrastinate so much. I told them, “Just you wait!”

I’ve only been fired from a job once. It was a calendar factory. All I did was take a day off.

Why did the frog take the bus to work today? His car got toad away.

A Palm Reader's Look into the Future

The Annual Meeting will be Saturday, January 28, 9:00 a.m. in the sanctuary. Come and hear about our plans for 2023 and vote on our 23-ministry budget and slate of officers.

This Sunday, January 29, I return to the pulpit. Read Matthew 5:1-12. That’s the section of the gospel that says, “Blessed are…” Blessed are those who make a place for the Beatitudes.
