Bringing rivers to life across the Westcountry with you
Welcome to the first of our newsletters for 2023.
This year is already proving to be a productive one for our rivers and our work to protect them. January brings the first of our Confluence podcasts, news of new trees, a visit from an MP, as well more ways for you to support your local rivers.

Our Confluence Podcast is back!
Listen along to our meeting of river-related conversations in our Confluence podcast.
Our CEO Dr Laurence Couldrick joins the chat in January to share more about what he hopes for the rivers in the region and why they are special to him: Confluence • A podcast on Anchor
New Trees for Tamerton Foliot
Earlier this month, volunteers joined our Plymouth River Keepers team to plant three new trees in Tamerton Foliot.
The trees selected were a Field Maple, a Crab Apple and a Wild Cherry. With the help of a group of willing volunteers, the trees were planted in the old playground area and will hopefully be able to provide shade and a valuable food source for wildlife in the area as they grow.
MP in Cornwall takes part in Citizen Science
Conservative MP for Truro and Falmouth Cherilyn Mackrory joined us in Tregony on 6 January as a citizen scientist.
Ms Mackrory learnt how to conduct a water test when she met our CEO Dr Laurence Couldrick along the banks of the River Fal (pictured above).
To help with our charity fundraising, this year you could support our work when you shop online at no extra cost through Give As You Live.
And for anyone looking for a way to show the world your love of freshwater habitats, we've opened a sustainable clothing and gift store too with Teemill.
Find out more below, but rest assured every penny raised will be supporting our teams to keep bringing the region's rivers to life.
Every sale raises funds for our charity, plus you get to show the world how much rivers mean to you or give a great gift to the river lover in your life.
Our store uses organic materials, renewable energy, plastic-free packaging and circular processes to create our sustainable goods.
Join our #PlymouthRiverKeepers at Budshead Woods LNR Friday 3 February from 10am - 12pm for our second Outfall Safari - help us to survey surface water outfalls & ID sources of water pollution and misconnections. Meet at the Scout Hut, Digby Way, off Rochford Crescent, Ernesettle.
