As the winter months move forward students are settling back into projects and activities. The energy in the school is positive as students and staff continue to grow together. We have more low temperatures in the forecast so please make sure your students have appropriate clothing like hats and gloves as you send them to school. Please make sure student names are on their personal items.

Applause, applause to our Talent Show performers! Two incredible nights filled with both staff and students showcasing a wide variety of talents and hobbies. Thank you to the PTO for their organization and support of this event.

Five MS VEX IQ robotics teams competed in a tournament this past weekend in Estes Park. One team finished in 2nd place in the Teamwork Finals. The MS VRC teams will head to Erie High School this weekend to compete. Way to go robotics! Wrestling is starting up while the girls basketball team wrapped up a strong and successful season. We are proud of all of our participants.

Parent-Teacher conferences are right around the corner (February 6th-8th). Please be on the lookout for the signup schedule from your child’s teacher soon. We will have opportunities for both sign-up and drop-in conferences for middle school families. A huge part of a child’s success is dependent on parent support and partnership in the child’s education. Our teachers look forward to meeting with every parent. Please see below for more information.

Attendance and behavior are critical parts of your child’s success in school. Please talk with your students about the importance of being on time and ready to learn when class starts as well as reviewing the code of conduct for Soaring Heights PK8. Our community is stronger together.

Calling All Female Innovators!

Join us for an exciting day with Soaring Heights Robotics and lead, female engineers from Sphero to celebrate Girls in Robotics.  Students in grades 3rd - 8th are invited to register for this hands-on event.  Lunch and a t-shirt are included with the registration. More details on the specific agenda to follow.  Reach out to Jamie Nesbitt, nesbitt_james@svvsd.org, with any questions.

Kindergarteners will celebrate our 100th day of school on Friday, February 3rd.

We have planned a fun day where the children will experience 100 through many different activities.  To help us visualize what 100 objects look like, we are asking that each child decorate a plain t-shirt with 100 items on it. Some ideas to use as decorations are stickers, googly eyes, fabric paint, cotton balls, buttons, pom-poms, safety pins, stamps, etc. The lighter weight the item, the easier it is to glue, stick, or attach 100 things to the shirt. Please also remember that your child will be wearing the 100 things all day. Have fun creating any shirt that you would like with 100 items on it. There are plenty of ideas online as well!  Please have your child wear their shirt on Friday, February 3rd as we celebrate the 100th day of school!

Thank you,

The Kindergarten Teachers

Elementary Art Room - Donation Request

The art room is collecting yarn to use for some upcoming projects.  If you or someone you know knits/crochets and has a stash of leftover odds and ends yarn you would like to offload, we would gladly take that off your hands!  Due to the process of the project, we can only use regular/traditional yarn (no oversized/chunky/decorative/stringy yarn).

Wednesday, March 1, 2023: Building Resilience in You, Your Child, and Your Family

  • 6:00-7:30 p.m. at the Innovation Center of St. Vrain Valley Schools
  • Presented by Dr. Shelly Mahon
  • Description: The world has changed for a variety of reasons over the last few years, but one thing remained the same – our ability to be resilient. While the challenges we’ve faced can cause fear and worry, they also create opportunities to build resilience in ways we have not been exposed to in the past. Almost a half a century of research tells us that parents/caregivers are the number one source of a child’s resilience. So, what does that look like and how do you create that environment? In this interactive conversation, we will explore what resilience looks like for you, your child, and your family. We will address myths and dig into specific strategies that leave you empowered to go home and apply what you’ve uncovered and learned. You will see that resilience is in each and every one of us, it simply needs to be grown and nurtured.
