Dear folk camp family & friends,

We hope the joyful spirit of koliada resounded in your home this winter and you were able to welcome in your kith and kin to bless your table. May your prayers fly to heaven as heartily as the rich and honeythick kutia you fling at the ceiling, and may your generosity and hospitality be returned manyfold to your door.
З Новим Роком!

Thank you to our many wonderful Kosa Koliadnyky who went out during the holidays bestowing blessings through song, calling in abundance for the new year, and raising money for Folk Camp.

Thank you also to all our community members who welcomed koliadnyky and gave so generously!
Your generosity will support Folk Camp & the Kosa community in continuing or educational and cultural programs, and support Ukrainian culture. We will be donating a portion of the funds to relief efforts in Ukraine, and the remainder will support our summer camp & yearlong programming.

We are nearing the end of the winter holiday cycle!
Last week was "Third Kutia", or Generous Evening (Щедрий Вечір) known by Christians as Theophany or the Feast of Jordan-- celebrated with a third gathering round the table to share in a holy evening with family, friends, ancestors, sacred dishes, and song.

Before that, Melanka and Vasylya, old New Year's, brought merry carolers and mummers into the streets visiting folks with their gaiety and cheer. Soon we will settle into the quiet gestation and much needed rest (& digest! ;) of the deep midwinter... *

*But before we put away our masks & hang up our zvizda for the season, we're going to have one last feast!
It's our annual tradition of gathering for a Schedriy Vechir (generous evening) feast, singing of carols, dancing to traditional tunes, and general melanka/mummery mayhem and fun ~Kosa Melanka or “Rozkoliada”!
It's about pitching in all our energies towards sharing in a beautiful celebration of life and traditions, while ushering in the coming growing season with prayers and song (the winter counterpart to our summer camp harvest).

This year we will be having a relatively small gathering, limited by the capacity of the hall, so we will not be selling tickets publicly. Reserving tickets for our members, we have almost filled up, so there are only a few dinner tickets left. If you wish to come but dinner is full, you are very welcome to join for the "zabava", after 9pm when tables are moved and the dancing begins.

Ticket information here.
Aiming to be family friendly and financially accessible, we are offering a sliding scale ($25, $45, $65- choose what you can afford). We look forward to seeing you!

We will be holding our Annual General Meeting on
Sunday February 12th, 2022, 2PM

Please stay tuned for more details.

An email will be sent out to all registered members with the link & more information.
