AI-powered virtual job interview tool promotes Smart Decarceration
U-M researcher Matt Smith developed an AI-powered virtual job interview tool to assist individuals returning to their communities after completing a prison sentence. These individuals often have critically low employment rates, which are associated with higher rates of recidivism.

Read more about a partnership between Smith and the Michigan Department of Corrections on a study to help enhance the implementation of evidence-based practice within the justice system, promoting Smart Decarceration.
New Michigan Public Health-led initiative builds health equity through housing

A new initiative led by Michigan Public Health researcher, Roshanak Mehdipanah, aims to identify strategies to promote health equity in housing systems and policy. Mehdipanah co-leads the school’s Public Health IDEAS for Creating Healthy and Equitable Cities initiative, which serves to identify sustainable strategies to address health equity and improve the health of urban communities across the globe.
