Laurel Hall Students EMBRACE Learning

LAUREL HALL NEWS
“Honesty and transparency make you vulnerable. Be honest and transparent anyway.” – Mother Teresa

Greetings Laurel Hall Families,

I would like to express my gratitude to those of you who spoke with me today to express concern with the news about next year’s tuition that was sent to you Wednesday evening. In reflecting upon today’s conversations, I realize that the communication that was sent was not that which you deserve.
I pride myself in my ability to articulate fairly well, especially through the written word. Frankly, you are entitled to a better effort from me, especially with respect to something as important as news of a tuition increase.

Those who have gotten to know me over the past six years would undoubtedly agree that I adore your children and I deeply respect what you do as parents. However, that is not enough. I am sorry that the message you received was abrupt, ambiguous, and lacking detail.

Alas, as with everything in education, when we learn the lesson, we are afforded a chance at a do-over to demonstrate our understanding. Therefore, I am happy to share with you that, as a next step, on Tuesday morning, Pastor Tatum and I, along with other staff administration and church council leaders will be meeting with the full PTO Board to engage in a solutions-based discussion regarding tuition concerns.

In the meantime, please continue to share your thoughts with me, whatever they may be. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

In partnership,
Jay
