China to launch 200-plus spacecraft, over 60 space missions in 2023

The China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC) plans to launch more than 200 spacecraft with over 60 space missions in 2023, according to a CASC blue paper released Wednesday. The blue paper unveiled plans for the country's space science and technology activities in 2023. It said that the Tianzhou-6 cargo craft, the Shenzhou-16 and the Shenzhou-17 flight missions would take place within the year to improve China's capability of entering, using and exploring space.

Nova Scotia spaceport on track for first small scale test launch, says CEO

The man behind Canada’s first commercial spaceport says the facility in northeastern Nova Scotia could see its first suborbital test launch sometime early this summer. Work that began last September on an access road to the launch site near Canso, N.S., is nearly complete, Maritime Launch Services CEO Steve Matier said Monday in an interview.

Spaceport project’s momentum continues in 2023: MLS signs deal with launch services provided

Maritime Launch Services (MLS), proponent of Spaceport Nova Scotia to be based in Canso, and Spaceflight Inc., a provider of space launch and transport services headquartered in Seattle, announced that it has reached an agreement to launch up to five Orbital Transfer Vehicles (OTVs) aboard the Cyclone- 4M rocket have signed from 2025. MLS and Spacefight announced the deal in a press release last week. The Journal interviewed MLS CEO Steve Matier and Spaceflight CEO and President Curt Blake about the agreement.

Space launches from Canada will be allowed soon, transport minister says

Ottawa is hoping to capitalize on the country's vast geography and space expertise to lure in companies that want to launch commercial space flights from Canadian soil. Transport Minister Omar Alghabra announced Friday that the federal government will develop the regulatory requirements, safety standards and licensing conditions necessary to authorize commercial satellite space launches from Canada within the next three years.
