Lunar New Year!

The sign of Rabbit is a symbol of longevity, peace, and prosperity.
2023 is predicted to be a year of hope.

Lunar New Year is one of the most important celebrations of the year among East and Southeast Asian cultures, including Chinese, Vietnamese and Korean communities, among others. The New Year celebration is usually celebrated for multiple days—not just one day as in the Gregorian calendar’s New Year. In 2023, Lunar New Year begins on Sunday, January 22.  Learn more about the Lunar New Year

The Massachusetts Asian American and Pacific Islanders Commission (AAPIC), Asia Society, and Smithsonian Magazine provide details about celebrations in each country.

Jobs

According to a recent Forbes.com article on what to expect from the job market in 2023, many job seekers and employers have some concern about how the global economy will impact the overall labor market.  Still, the national jobs report showed that employers added 223,000 jobs in the month of December, 2022.    Additionally, unemployment rate reduced to 3.5%, the lowest since early 2020. That number for IT was 2.1% which proves there continues to be a shortage of IT professionals in high-demand skill sets.

Not surprisingly, of the nearly 700 currently posted positions across Harvard, over 100 of them are in IT!    Ranging from grade 52 to grade 62, there are opportunities at nearly every level.    As we do each month, we are spotlighting several of the hottest IT reqs around campus.   Take a look and share the word about these opportunities with your IT networks!
