AAUW-DAW January Program

Start the new year by joining us for our monthly meeting on January 19, 2023, at 6:00 pm. We start with 30 minutes of our usual social time with decaf coffee, tea, brownies, lemon bars and muffins. At 6:30 pm our guest speaker will be Dr. William Francis, Assistant Medical Director, Family Violence Prevention and Pediatrics, at the Sutter Delta Emergency Department in Antioch. His talk will be about emergency medicine in general, leading into specifically providing health care to women experiencing violence. He’ll also tell us about the innovative TeleCARE program in Contra Costa which enables remote care for victims who may not be able to access in-person services.

In 2018 Dr. Francis began partnering with STAND! followed by the Family Justice Center and founded the TeleCARE program with the objective of providing accessible and free healthcare to all survivors of interpersonal violence and their families. Dr. Francis is a champion of interpersonal violence prevention, healthcare access and pediatric emergency services.

Public Policy Reminder: Make a Difference! Register for CA Lobby Days, March 21-22

AAUW California will hold Lobby Days on March 21 and 22, 2023. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet our legislators, inform them about AAUW and what our branch is doing for their constituents, and advocate for their support of our priority bills.

Each of us has 3 options for participating:
  • Meet in-person at the Capitol in Sacramento
  • Meet in-person with staffers in the state legislator’s district office
  • Virtual online meeting

Two next steps:

Thanks in advance for helping pull through
our statewide AAUW policy priorities!
Every month our branch plans an exciting in-person opportunity to connect and learn with other DAW members and guests. Each "Third Thursday" meeting will begin with social time, followed by branch updates and ending with our educational program or activity supporting our “Make a Difference” theme. We look forward to seeing you at the Greenbrook Clubhouse, at 6 PM every third Thursday from October to June.
