Eagle Valley Community Foundation Newsletter
Thank you so much for taking a moment to open our January Newsletter.
Whether a Foundational Family, a volunteer, or an interested community member,
our hope is that you find meaning in your connection to our work each month as we share program updates and real issues facing our neighbors in need. It truly takes an Eagle Valley to make a difference and we are so grateful for YOU!
Thanks to your generosity Eagle Valley Community Foundation was able to:
  • We supported 12,117 people each month at The Community Market, providing access to fresh produce, dairy and healthy proteins.
  • MIRA connected more than 1,300 local residents with important resources to support their mental, physical and emotional health.
  • For each dollar donated to EVCF, we leveraged an additional $7 in resources and financial support for our community.
But beyond each statistic, is the story of one. One community member whose life was changed by our programming and collective action.

Eagle Valley Community Foundation!

Here in Eagle County, more than 8,700 residents deal with food insecurity. The Community Market (TCM) provides access to free, nutrient-rich food throughout the County with markets featuring a variety of fresh produce, dairy, healthy proteins and breads as well as shelf-stable grocery items, all available for each customer’s own choosing.

Better Together- Community Partners deliver healthy foods

EVCF's food assistance program at The Community Market partnered with Vail Valley Salvation Army to gather, sort, package, and deliver healthy food and hope to families in need this holiday season. A heart full of gratitude to all our volunteers, especially our dedicated law enforcement and first responders, who serve our community in many wonderful ways. WE appreciate YOU: Eagle County Paramedic Services, Eagle County Sheriff's Office, Gypsum Fire Protection District and Colorado State Patrol.
Vail Mountain School delivers
803 pounds of love

The Community Market was selected as the proud recipient of the Vail Mountain School (VMS) winter food drive. Students delivered 803 pounds of grocery store goods share with our local community this holiday season. Additionally, VMS continues to bring student groups to volunteer at TCM to learn about food insecurity in our valley and the impact we all can make in helping to address the needs of our most vulnerable population. Education and service collaborating to both inform and inspire our next generation of leaders.
EVCF's The Community Market partnered with Vail Resorts Housing to bring FREE healthy food, shelf stable items, and grocery supplies to employees at The Tarnes. Offering a hand up to community members who work so hard to help our local economy to thrive.
The MIRA program MIRA Bus - Camión MIRA, under the leadership of Eagle Valley Community Foundation, provides support to deliver basic health education and screenings, support in applying to public assistance programs, food resources, workforce development, coordination with early childhood programming and more.
Student leaders at EVES give back

Generosity abounds from our 3rd grade friends at Eagle Valley Elementary School (EVES). Learning about economics as well as the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, Eagle Valley Community Foundation's program MIRA was selected for its work toward sustainable goal number 3 "to ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages" as the beneficiary of their Holiday Market sales. EVCF and MIRA staff visited students to thank them for their $500 donation and to engage the next generation of community leaders by presenting each student with a certificate of recognition and gratitude. Together, we are building the engaging minds and passionate hearts of our future leaders!
Partnerships make spirits bright

MIRA Posadas holiday health events embrace community in it's entirety. MIRA Bus,  The Community Market, Eagle Valley Behavioral Health, Eagle County Paramedics, SpeakUp ReachOut, Early Childhood Partners came together to host special holiday events embracing cultural traditions while also offering resource connections to locals during what may prove a challenging time for some. Over 150 community members joined in the no-cost festivities, where local families both gained information about wellness resources and celebrated with traditional cultural food and children's toys, donated by our generous partners at Roundup River Ranch and Walmart.
EVCF leadership shines on the cover of The Women's Foundation of Colorado (WFCO) Annual Report 2021-2022. We are the proud recipient of a Women & Girls of Color Fund Rural Grant. EVCF joins the Women's Foundation of Colorado in rejecting the problematic philanthropic norms that cause women of color to receive just .5% of all philanthropic dollars. Women of color have the experience and community knowledge to best lead our communities into an equitable future. We are so fortunate to be led by our Executive Director, Melina, pictured above with Veyra, TCM Operations Manager, and Elvia, TCM Volunteer.
