Exhibition opening and book launch @ 18:00

The exhibition shows the installation Voice Catcher ‒ an intimate, interactive, and sensual experience inside a sound cloud of voices. The publication Selected Works is also launched, presenting extensive documentation from Stenslie’s many years of art practice and cross-genre recombinations with embodied and experimental technologies. Since the 1990s, he has worked with touch- and sensory-manipulative projects to expand our understanding of art and artistic materialities.

Selected Works

Stahl Stenslie

A new monograph on Stahl Stenslie’s artistic works and experiments. The book is published by TEKS.press and presents a selection of his art projects spanning a period of 33 years, from 1989 to 2022.

The selected works are presented through their original project descriptions written at the time of their making. The material is richly illustrated and gives a unique insight into Stenslie’s artistic practice. The publication is an important contribution to the dissemination of experimental art with new mediums and materialities.

Humanoil

Hege Tapio

Humanoil is presented as an extreme luxury product that plays on long historical and mythical references. The extraction and use of human oil has not only been present in myths and magical rituals but was also practically used for medicinal healing of scars and for pain relief. The oil has been sought after as a lucrative product for centuries until early 1900.
