IEEE Gride Edge Conference Pitch Showcase

American Made Challenge: Buildings Upgrade Prize

Developed by the DOE Building Technologies Office, Buildings University Prize aims to build capacity to rapidly and equitably transform U.S. buildings. Teams will submit innovative concepts to leverage the billions of dollars available through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), utility rebate programs, and many other funding sources, capitalizing on this once-in-a-generation opportunity to equitably transform a wide variety of buildings across diverse geographies. As teams progress through the prize, they will receive cash prizes and technical assistance to help bring their ideas to life.

Cool Companies is CONNECT's annual capital program designed to match San Diego’s top-performing technology and life sciences startups ready to raise Series A with quality venture capital. The program, which regularly attracts over 200 venture capitalists to the region annually, selects top-tier, local entrepreneurs raising institutional funding and grants them opportunities for direct access to capital providers.

Caltech's Rocket Fund

Caltech's Rocket Fund is a member-supported granting pool that helps academic and garage innovators turn their technologies into commercial realities through financial support, entrepreneurial mentoring, and education. Rocket Fund provides up to $100,000 in non-equity grants, opportunities to work with utilities and access further funding, introductions to experts in product development, scale-up and manufacturing, and more.

CalSEED Concept Awards

Applications will open on February 17 for CalSEED's next round of funding for early-stage clean energy entrepreneurs. Funded by California Energy Commission's EPIC program, CalSEED's primary purpose is to address a critical funding gap in the early stages of the energy technology development pipeline in California. Don’t miss your chance to get $150,000 on this first round with the possibility of an additional $450,000.

RELATED STARTUP PROGRAMS

West Gate

West Gate seeks talented scientists, engineers, inventors, and innovators with promising technologies. Throughout West Gate’s two-year runway, innovators work with scientists in NREL and Colorado School of Mines' world-class laboratories to de-risk their technologies, ready them for market, and grow their startup companies. West Gate supports selected innovators with stipend assistance worth up to $225,000 and $175,000 technical assistance funding redeemable at NREL.

UC Berkeley Cleantech to Market

Cleantech to Market (C2M) is now accepting climate tech applications — low-carbon energy, green chemistry, food, and water technologies covering both mitigation and adaptation — for its 2023 cohort. For those technologies selected, C2M will hand-pick interdisciplinary teams of UC Berkeley grad students to help entrepreneurs identify the most viable initial markets, prospective customers and partners, funding sources, and related strategies.
