Recap of Parish Council Meeting
At their January 9, 2023 Regular Meeting, the Parish Council:
- reviewed the December financials.
- A significant increase in Stewardship revenue was noted.
- The reserve account for the consecration of the church is pending.
- the newly hired bookkeeper will be training with our current bookkeeper, Gary Boyce, in anticipation of his resignation at the end of January. The new bookkeeper’s salary has been generously donated for the first year.
- were informed that a final walk thru was conducted with our school tenant, The Autism Academy, on January 5, 2023. St. Katherine now has full access to the Education Building and 4th acre house beginning January 1, 2023.
- were reminded that Fellowship Hour is cancelled for Sunday, January 22, 2023 due to a wedding and reception at St. Katherine.
- reviewed the current hall rental schedule through May 2023.
- discussed the feasibility of participating in the Downtown Chandler Multi-Cultural Festival on January 14, 2023 and agreed to forego this event for this year.
- were updated on the upcoming “Taverna” on February 11, 2023 by Chairman Glen Thorpe.
- unanimously passed a motion to accept the bid by Cabana Pigeon Services to begin pigeon remediation in areas encompassed by the church, education building, and community center. The cost will be approximately $4000.
- learned that a date for the “Oath of Office” for the Parish Council members and election of officers is pending.
- were made aware of the need for volunteers to serve during weddings, baptisms, and funerals at St. Katherine. Some of those duties include;
- unlock/lock the church before and after the event.
- light the votives prior to the event
- extinguish all candles at the end of the event
- adjust the thermostats
- assist our parishioners as needed
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:30pm.
