Students help to clean street furniture in preparation for community events to celebrate the 800th Anniversary of the Magna Carta in 2015

Anniversary Volunteering Fair 

As part of our 20th Anniversary celebrations, Royal Holloway Volunteering will be hosting a mini volunteering fair in the atrium of the Emily Wilding Davison building on Wednesday 8th February from 11am-3pm.

Come along to hear about our other anniversary events, and meet our community partners to find out about their current volunteering opportunities. We will be joined by great partners such as British Red Cross, Brooklands Museum and disability support charities Phab and Sight for Surrey. Follow our Instagram for regular updates about community partners attending the fair! 

We will also be promoting all aspects of Royal Holloway Volunteering on the day so come along to find out more about Community Research, Social Action, Sports Volunteering and Volunteering Abroad too.

Community Action 

Search for your perfect volunteering opportunity on our online platform

Surrey Wildlife Trust Youth Action Committee 


Surrey Wildlife Trust are establishing a Youth Action Committee which will be made up of 15 young people aged 16 to 30 which will provide young people with an opportunity to gain skills and experience within the conservation sector, as well as providing a way for young people to take action for nature and have their voices heard.  

As part of the Committee, young people will work with Surrey Wildlife Trust to inspire other young people in Surrey to take action for nature. The deadline for applications is 31 January.

Join the Amigo Project 

Catalyst Support is currently looking for volunteers to help join the Amigo Project. This project provides 'buddies' to help support people with attending medical appointments and attending activities in the local community. The goal of this project is to help individuals to build confidence and self esteem.  Find out more about this opportunity here

Design A Website for the Egham Town Team

The Egham Town Team are currently looking for a volunteer to help them design a new website that is more modern and accessible to users. This is a great opportunity to have a positive impact on the local community. Find out more here.

Musical Artists needed for Healing Arts Volunteer Programme 

Ashford and St Peter's Hospital are looking for volunteers to help with their Healing Arts programme. They are particularly interested in those who can play a musical instrument to a high standard. The programme itself looks at improving the experience of staff, patients and visitors at the hospital. Find out more here

Love Your Campus Litter Pick 

The Love Your Campus team are going to be picking up litter around campus on Wednesday 25th January, from 12-2pm. Love your Campus run a number of projects on campus based around nature and the environmentSign up to join the litter pick here

Donate and Reuse

Donate and Reuse will be sorting through donations on Wednesday 25 January in room 004 in the Windsor Building, between 1-2pm. During the activity volunteers will be sorting through the donations and working out the best places or charities that these items could be donated to. Find out more about the event here

Homeless Project 

The Homeless Project Team is busy preparing for its campus sleep out on Saturday 4 February. This overnight event will take place from 7pm on Saturday until 7am on Sunday 5 February.  Pizza and live entertainment will be provided throughout the night. Please bear in mind that this event takes place outdoors. Find out more here

Social Action Showcase Invite

Come along to our Social Action showcase on Thursday 26 January, where our student leaders will be presenting on their individual projects and their plans for Spring Term!  The showcase is being held in Arts Lecture Theatre 3, from 3-5pm. See you there!

Cobra Collective 

The Cobra Collective are an international organisation that helps to empower communities to achieve their goals. They are currently looking for a volunteer to help assess the ecological condition of Englefield Green's landscape and woodland. Duties include creating surveys and writing reports, as well as interviewing individuals while researching. Find out more on the online platform here

Interactive Timeline

The Volunteering Team are currently creating an interactive timeline of Royal Holloway Community Action volunteering for our 20th anniversary, and are inviting people to share their memories. 2012 Community Mosaic Unveiling

As part of our 20th anniversary celebrations we will be re-unveiling a mosaic created with the support of Royal Holloway Volunteers back in 2012 to commemorate the Olympic connection to Royal Holloway.  This mosaic will now have a permanent home outside the Volunteering Hub, acting as a point of interest along Windsor Walk. Stay tuned for more information coming soon!

The Turing Scheme 

The new deadline to apply for Turing Funding is Monday 30 January. The Turing Scheme is a government funded scheme that provides partial funding for volunteering abroad opportunities. Turing ambassadors will be in the Davison atrium on Wednesday and Friday from 12-2pm to answer any questions that you may have. Find out more information here

Challenges Abroad 

Our partner organisation Challenges Abroad offer the opportunity to travel to several different countries, including Thailand, Nepal, Peru, India and Cambodia and Tanzania. Each project has a specific focus, including health and wellbeing, social impact, climate action, sports and creative arts. Partial funding can be provided for these projects via the Turing Scheme. 

Think Pacific

Think Pacific host a number of different projects based in Fiji, in partnership with the Fijian government, to deliver a range of projects with a focus on sustainability, community building, youth empowerment and the environment/ There is also emphasis on teaching volunteers about Fijian culture and values. Partial funding for this project is provided via the Turing Scheme. 

Raleigh Costa Rica 

Raleigh Costa Rica are offering the opportunity to travel to Costa Rica and participate in a range of different projects over Summer 2023. You can choose to participate in community or environmental projects, as well as Adventure Leadership programmes. Partial funding for this project is provided via the Turing Scheme. On Thursday 26 January the team will have a stand in the Emily Wilding Davison Building from 11am-1pm and then have an information session at 3pm in the Events Space. Come and talk to them about their incredible opportunities. 

Sports Volunteering 

Royal Holloway Sports offer a range of volunteering roles for students, from becoming an Activator to working as a Community Coach. Find out more about these roles here

Sports Volunteering Drop-in Session 

Divine from Royal Holloway Sports will be in the Volunteering Hub on Tuesday 24 January to answer any questions that you might have about sports volunteering and the various roles on offer. 

Sports Volunteering in Tanzania

Challenges Abroad are currently offering Royal Holloway students the chance to take part in the development and delivery of a sports programme in Tanzania. Volunteers will help to teach workshops based around exercise and wellbeing, and introduce new sports to schoolchildren. Find out more about the Challenges Abroad sports opportunity to Tanzania here

Alumni Solo Peaks Film Screening

Two Royal Holloway alumni will be hosting a film screening on Tuesday 7 February in the Shilling Building Lecture Theatre. The film follows alumni Isaac as he attempts the Welsh Three Peaks Challenge while highlighting the impact of physical exercise on personal physical and mental wellbeing. This film was created in partnership with the charity Mind. Book tickets for the event here.
