Respond
When it comes to plants, I am never hesitant to admit that I am a terrible gardener and plant caretaker. I guess the problem is that I buy them and then essentially leave them to their own devices. I do not tend to them as I should. Not out of malice or the desire to see the dry, crispy leaves but because I forget until it is too late. I just do not think about it or make it a priority.  Plants do not grow without the proper care and attention they need. Likewise, we do not grow in our faith without nurturing it. Reading scripture is like the water that hydrates the soil and the nutrients that feed the plant. Being part of a small group is like the warmth and radiance of light that surrounds the plant and strengthens it. Plants cannot grow without proper sunlight, water, and nutrition. As followers of Jesus, we cannot grow into the fullness of who God desires or hopes for us to be without reading God’s word and being part of a small group community. Unlike plants, however, it is never too late for us to start nurturing our faith. There is always time and opportunity to grow.  Let's grow together in Christ.
