Dear Friends...

We had a great time last Sunday with wonderful music, an inspirational talk, and a delicious potluck! I can't share the tasty food with you, but if you missed the event, you can watch a video of it on YouTube by searching for @CSLCarlsbad, or you can just click on this link: YOUTUBE.

This Sunday, I will talk about what Spirit does. Of course, the short answer is "It does everything" but that's not very helpful, so I'll try to explain it in more detail. I hope you can join us, and if you have been a volunteer during the past year, or if you think you would like to be more involved, then please attend the Volunteer Meeting we will be having after the service ends.

It's no secret that we have been struggling with cold temperatures in our meeting hall on Sunday. The problem has been that the Woman's Club has other random renters who leave the heat "off" on Saturday instead of leaving it "on" for us. We have figured out a possible solution - but just in case - bring a jacket this Sunday.

Hot or Cold - I just want to share how great it feels to be open again! I believe that 2023 will be a wonderful year for all of us at CSL Carlsbad. There's always a silver lining in every challenge and while being closed for 2+ years, then reopening has been hard in many ways, it has also has really highlighted our strength as a Center of Friendship, Fellowship, and Connection.

Let's commit to making 2023 a great year in which we can delve deeply and share widely the JOY of practicing the Science of Mind. Thank you so much for all you do to support our Center and to share your light in the world!

This Sunday, Jan. 22nd, we will have a meeting of the Volunteers after Fellowship. We will recap of how things have been going, and look for suggestions of ways to make sure volunteering is easy and fun. Please plan to join us!

NEW WORKSHOP SERIES STARTS JAN. 29TH:

Rev. Maurene will offer a five part workshop after Fellowship on Sundays starting January 29, called "Metaphysical Tools for Living." Everyone is welcome, just bring a journal or notebook and a snack.

Keep Your Light On:

The light of God surrounds us. It uses us as a creative vessel to bring more light and good into our lives. Sometimes we may forget that we have this light within ourselves or our light may become dim due to the stress or pressure from our experiences. We can use our light to dispel the darkness that may try to seep through us. Each day upon awakening we can tune into God and turn on our light as we recognize our oneness with the Divine that is always present in our lives.

Baptism of Spirit

Listen to the voice of Spirit. Thy life is Myself, I Am thy Mind, Will and Faith. I Am thy Love, Truth, and Wisdom, and thou hast no other. I Am the only Creator, Maker of all things. I Am everywhere under all circumstances; in Me are all worlds seated, and I pervade them all. There is nothing real in all the universe but Me.

Come unto Me. Claim Me for thyself. Believe that there is no Being but Me, and thou wilt do My will and act as I act, and thou wilt find rest in Me. There is no life in thought not born of Me or which does not represent my Divine Being. Impersonal thought, word and deed are born of me. I recognize no other. I know no lack of perfection, knowledge, power; I Am Wholeness to all, and thy who see as I see and think My thoughts come unto Me, and are glorified in My Truth - "for he that believeth" shall do the things that I do. Dear child, thou art radiant with My Being, for thou art one with Me. Thou art free, peaceful, and harmonious - thy work is finished, thou hast returned in consciousness and understanding from thy journeying through the land of effects, ignorance and doubt. The Sabbath day is come, thou art at rest in the full consciousness that the kingdom is with thee and that thou art in the kingdom, power and glory - drinking the blessed Truth of thy perfect Being in Me.
