Happy New Year! We'd like to provide a quick update on how things have been and what we're looking forward to this year. Your input is needed so please keep reading!
Looking Back:
- A Chanukah party was held at the Seymour Center in Chapel Hill. It was an opportunity for old friends to see each other again and meet some new people. There was cookie decorating for the kids and yummy finger foods and candle lighting for all. Everyone agreed it was great to get together again.
Looking Ahead:
- NEW EVENT - February 8th on Zoom: We are collaborating with Jewish for Good on an adult education program taking place on February 8th at 7:30pm ET on Zoom. It is free to attend but you do need to preregister. Join us for Intermarriage Optimism and the Future of Judaism by registering here.
Join Paul Golin of the Society for Humanistic Judaism for a lively conversation about what the future of Judaism looks like, as Jewish households become more diverse and intermarriage helps grow (yes, grow!) the Jewish population. How do intercultural/interfaith families find meaning in their heritages? How can we as a community better celebrate all forms of love and diversity? And what are the challenges we face in doing so?
- ANNUAL MEETING - There will be an annual meeting for members held on Zoom sometime in June. Stay tuned! We need new people to step up and serve on the board, and to help with organizing activities, programs, and celebrations, as well as updating the website and distributing community newsletters. Please think about the ways you are able to help.
Remember, Kol Haskalah is a DIY congregation and we need you to volunteer to make these initiatives happen. Thank you!
