Sunday Adult Formation:
Living as a ‘Called Out’ People

The Greek word “ekklēsia” in the New Testament, usually translated as “church,” literally means “called out.” It refers to Jesus-people as ones who are called to live in a way that is not just “business as usual” by society’s normal standards. They’re called to make a difference! During Sunday Adult Formation in the Epiphany Season, 9:30-10:15 in the library and on Zoom, we’ll explore various aspects of that ‘difference.’ Contact the church office if you need the Zoom link.

This Sunday: “The Concert Hall as Church”
Maestro Paul Hostetter, the Ethel Foley Distinguished Chair in Orchestral Activities for the Schwob School of Music, Columbus State University, will apply his conducting experience and insights to how we can better function as “church.”

Jan 29: "St. Thomas's Music Legacy"
Feb 5: St. Thomas Annual Parish Meeting (in the Parish Hall)
Feb 12 & 19: “ Overcoming the Harmful Effects of Purity Culture” - Joanna & Evan Collins
CVEM's Striving for Justice Series:
Anti-Semitism Today

Sunday, January 22 6:30-8 pm on Zoom
This topic has been in the news recently, and we are looking forward to diving in with our guest speaker Robert Wittenstin, a Board member for the ADL (Anti-Defamation League). To join all you need to do is register here for the link to Zoom!

A Prayer of Howard Thurman
“Lord, make me an instrument of Thy Peace.” Teach me how to order my days that with sure touch I may say the right word at the right time and in the right way — lest I betray the spirit of peace. Let me not be deceived by my own insecurity and weakness which would make me hurt another as I try desperately to help myself. Keep watch with me, O my Father, over the days of my life, that with abiding enthusiasm I may be in such possession of myself that each day I may offer to Thee the full, unhampered use of me in all my parts as “an instrument of Thy Peace.” Amen.

From  The Inward Journey: Meditations on the Spiritual Quest by Howard Thurman (Harper Row, 1961).
