ARTIST SPOTLIGHT

Christi Anne Abraham is a self-taught Caribbean Canadian artist who uses acrylic, watercolour, and digital media to create nature illustrations and fine art. Christi is a muralist for Mississauga Arts Council (MAC), resident artist and art instructor at Visual Arts Mississauga (VAM), Children's Book Illustrator, and a member of SONSI. Her art courses at VAM are beginner level and range from drawing pet portraits, painting fruit with watercolour, to abstract acrylic paintings of koi fish. Christi hopes to create more, be bold, and inspire others to care for our planet.

    The 16th Annual Dancing for the Compass returns to the Port Credit Legion on January 28! Little Peter and the Elegants return to perform music from the 50s, 60s and 70s from 8 PM to 12 AM. Little Peter and the Elegants won two Readers' Choice Awards in 2022: Best Local Musician or Band and Best Local Entertainment and they have raised over $55,000 for The Compass since this event began in 2008!     A stunning cast of singers join the Mississauga Symphony Orchestra to perform Rossini’s beloved comedic opera, The Barber of Seville at Hammerson Hall in the Living Arts Centre, February 11 at 8 PM. This special opera-in-concert is not to be missed! Narrated by Margaret Cormier, The Barber of Seville follows the escapades of a barber, Figaro (Christopher Dunham), as he assists Count Almaviva (David Walsh) in prising the beautiful Rosina (Alessia Vitali) away from her lecherous guardian, Dr. Bartolo (John Holland).
