Correction: I am running the W.D. White Tiding again because last week I accidentally referred to R∴W∴B∴ Plaissance as the "GJW" in the body copy and "GSW" in the title. To clear up any confusion, please see below. - Gar Pickering, Managing Editor

Bro. Mark St. John is scheduled to visit our lodge as a Scottish Rite Representative and he will also present a Masonic Education Topic for us. He will discuss a paper that was published a few years ago titled "Ashlars of the Temple". Many of you know Mark from the Scottish Rite and we thought it would be a great idea to have him come give a presentation. Mark will be driving down from Ruston and may also have a few other Brothers with him. We are hoping for a great night!
Mark St. John was raised at Urim Lodge No.111, where he served as Worshipful Master of Urim in 2021, and currently serves as Secretary. He is also serving as Senior Warden for 2023 at Graham Surghnor No. 383. He joined Scottish Rite in October 2018, 32nd degree, current Assistant Treasurer, Education Chairman, and VMAP (Valley Membership Achievement Project) Chairman, Scottish Rite Foundation Board Member, and member of Orient of Louisiana investment committee. He joined the Barak Shrine Temple in Dec 2019, and has been Treasurer for the Temple and the Barak Foundation since May 2020.
Joined York Rite in Monroe in April 2021, member of Louisiana York Rite Investment Committee. He is also a member of Scottish Rite Research Society and member and contributor of the Masonic Society (which puts out the Journal of the Masonic Society magazine).

Additionally, please note that the meeting will be held and conducted with no electricity usage during the meeting. Light will be provided with candles and oil lanterns. As with all meetings, but especially with this one, please ensure that all mobile telephones and other such devices are completely silenced or turned off.
All who wish to attend are invited to do so. This meeting is open to all Master Masons, so if you know a Brother who may be interested in attending, please let him know.

Raise Food and Funds for Charity
|
|
Our Christmas and End of year party may have been smaller this year - but our giving spirit was not.
The entrance fee to our party was can goods or non-perishables. We collected quite a haul and will deliver to Northshore Food Bank to help fill their shelves for the new year. Our Windows Sons Ladies also spread some Holiday cheer and made a $750.00 donation from their monthly charity fund to Hope House of Central Louisiana. Presenting the check (above) is Tammy Billings, a Widows Sons Lady from our Ben King Chapter.
Helping others is what we do! We pray that each of you had a very blessed Christmas and have a very Happy New Year!

Masonic and Other Items up
for "Silent Auction" via Email
|
|
At its stated communication on November 16, 2022, Cervantes Lodge No. 5 adopted a resolution authorizing its officers to sell, at just prices and on reasonable terms, certain medals, coins, lapel pins, and other extra and non-Masonic effects that had been donated to the Lodge, with the proceeds of the sale to be donated to the Lodge’s treasury. Given Masons' greater interest in Masonic items and the officers' desire to try to keep Masonic items in the hands of Brothers, Cervantes Lodge No. 5 is first offering eighteen items for sale to members of the Order.
If you wish to bid, please send an e-mail to sec@cervantes5.com and include your name, your mailing address, the item number(s) listed in the inventory, and the price(s) that you would pay for the item(s). Bidding will close at 12:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 14, 2023. After bidding closes, bidders who offered to pay the highest prices will promptly be notified and invoiced for payment, and, upon payment, the item(s) sold will be mailed to the mailing address provided.
