Let’s talk about mental healthJanuary 25 is Bell Let’s Talk Day. Mental health challenges can affect anyone, and mental health is just as important as physical health. Support is available. In the workplace, an employer cannot fire a worker, or deny them a job or promotion, because of a mental health issue or other disability. The Occupational Health and Safety Act sets out the rights and duties of workers, supervisors and employers when dealing with workplace violence and workplace harassment. If a worker experiences chronic or traumatic work-related mental stress they may be entitled to compensation under the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act.
