Commercial Space Rehabilitation Grant Program
Grants of up to $24,000


The Commercial Space Rehabilitation Grant Program offers matching funding of 50 per cent to commercial business operators and owners of vacant storefronts (or, in certain limited circumstances, at risk of becoming vacant) to undertake interior improvements, assisting businesses to re-lease space impacted by COVID-19. Improvements to meet health regulations and Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) (www.aoda.ca) compliance are also included.
 
The maximum grant available is $20,000. Further funding of up to $4,000, for a maximum grant of $24,000, is available for upgrades to meet accessibility standards. Applications will be accepted until Tuesday, February 28, or until funds are fully expended, whichever comes first.

INVITE: DesignTO in Old Town Toronto
Festival: January 20-29th
Party: Friday January 27th


As part of the DesignTO Festival, the King East Design District (located in Old Town Toronto), will host a collection of exhibitions, workshops and talks in the showrooms of select local businesses January 20–29, 2023.
Additionally, on Friday January 27, 2023 you are invited to attend the official King East Design District Party presented by DesignTO.

Join Environment and Climate Change Canada and City of Toronto staff for an interactive webinar to learn more about the federal regulations and reducing single-use and takeaway items in your business. The webinar will:

  • Explain the Single-use Plastics Prohibition Regulations, including the targeted items and implementation timelines
  • Outline which businesses will be affected and how they will be impacted
  • Share information and resources to help you prepare for compliance
  • Outline approach to federal enforcement
  • Discuss reuse with a focus on the reduction of single-use and takeaway items

Reminder: Take advantage of DMS services and grants

Want to learn more about digital marketing, social media, e commerce and content creation for your business? How does free 1-on-1 assistance sound?


We are happy to introduce you to our area's Digital Main Street Squad Member, Alex Mullen. They are available to help your business with any digital marketing challenges you may be facing, as well as support programs offered by Digital Main Street.
In addition to Alex's assistance, there are a number of grants/programs available to you:
  • Digital Transformation Grant  
    • Currently open for registration and going until September 30th (or sooner depending on available funding.) 
    • $2500 grant that can be put towards business expenses related to digital marketing.
       
  • ShopHERE 
    • Program that provides independent small businesses and artists with a quick, easy and no-cost way to get selling online right away.
       
  • Canada Digital Adoption Program (CDAP)  
    •  Micro-grant of up to $2,400 to help with the costs related to adopting e-commerce and supported by a network of e-commerce advisors.

What is a Business Improvement Area?
A Business Improvement Area (BIA) is made up of commercial and industrial property owners and their non-residential tenants who join together under a volunteer Board of Management (BIA Board) to carry out improvements and promote economic development within their designated area.

There are currently 83 BIAs in the City of Toronto. They work in partnership with the City to enhance and promote business areas as safe, vibrant places to do business, unique destinations for tourists and focal points for neighbourhood activity...(click learn more to continue reading.)
