What is the Commodore's Role
The Commodore is a Director and is responsible for the overall running of the Club together with the Board of Directors. The Commodore chairs and sets the various committees' agendas, consistent with the views of members, and helps the committees prioritise their goals to keep on track by working with them.
A little about Dave
Dave has been sailing since his early thirties and has kept his sailboat “Kalluna” in Eastbourne since 2008 shortly after which he joined the Club. Together with wife Dawn, who many of you will know, he has mostly sailed the south coast from Rye to the Isles of Scilly and much of the north French coast and the Channel Islands.
Dave has sat on the Board of the Club since 2013 and spent the last five years as Vice Commodore so is well aware of the fortunes of the Club both past and present. His working life consisted of 23 years in retail banking followed by 21 years owning and operating his own business, jointly with Dawn, prior to retirement – or so he thought!
