Slingback Sunday

In the late nineties I was offered some work as an extra on a film called ‘Metroland’.
The filming took place in Brixton and us extras were to play the part of early Punks at a gig circa 76/77.

It was obvious that the stylist didn’t know what Punks looked like back then and they weren’t happy when some of the extras told them so.

I annoyed the assistant to the assistant director by pointing out that the Marshall JCM 800 amps they’d hired for the band weren’t available till 1984 so I was not very popular.

The ‘band’ played a song with the lyric ‘Destroy destroy Destroy the Oi Poloi’ and we had to jump about enthusiastically.
One of the actors tried to chat me up but I was a bit put off by his stick on sideburns and 1970s garb, still it was nice to have someone friendly talk to me because as a mere extra who knew about amplifiers I was the lowest of the low…!!!!

Years later Lumpy told me that actor was Christian Bale....

He was very pleasant and has of course progressed to a stellar career in films.

Here’s look back at what we did in ’22.

We started the year off with re-recording some old Vice Squad classics and remixing Battle of Britain  favourite  ‘Born In A War’ - sadly events in the Ukraine made this particular song even more relevant.

In March the 'Humane' 3 track digital EP was released via Bandcamp and thanks to the generosity of fans raised over £2,500 for animals in the Ukraine.
