This dashboard is a collaborative effort between the NYS Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) and the NYS Youth Justice Institute (YJI), and we hope that it is a tool that families, practitioners, and community members can utilize to find targeted mentoring programs in their area.

CRIMINOLOGY OF THE MONTH: KEY TERM SERIES

DEVELOPMENTAL CRIMINOLOGY

Developmental Criminology focuses on how age and environment impact risks for offending and antisocial behavior and are particularly concerned with continuity and change throughout life (Farrington, 2018). These studies are often longitudinal in that they follow individuals over a notable amount of their lives to better capture how age and life events impact behavior and risks for harm.
