Davos 2023 - Speed, Cooperation and Resilience Can Mend a Fragmented World

Davos-Klosters, Switzerland, 20 January 2023 – World leaders gathered at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2023 in the first major international gathering of the year to address ongoing economic, energy and food crises while laying the groundwork for a more sustainable, resilient world.

“Through the power of collaboration, innovation, human goodwill and ingenuity, we have the capacity to turn challenges into opportunities. This is the spirit of solving problems through mutual respect and cooperation. This is the spirit of Davos,” - Klaus Schwab, Founder and Executive Chairman, World Economic Forum.

As crises converge, so too must the solutions. The Annual Meeting emphasized connections across big systemic challenges. With over 480 sessions, more than 2,700 leaders – including over 350 public figures government leaders and 47 heads of state – came together at the Annual Meeting 2023 to address the world’s most pressing challenges on:

  • Geopolitical cooperation
  • Growth, investment, trade and infrastructure
  • Climate, energy, nature and sustainability
  • On health
  • On technology and innovation
  • On jobs, skills and education
  • On equity, inclusion and diversity
  • On arts and culture

Swedish Lunch - Davos 2023

Since 2014 The Swedish Lunch at Davos provides a multi-sector forum to promote Swedish values of sustainability, equality, innovation and inclusive growth.

The mission of the Swedish Luncheon is to bring world leaders together, increase global connectivity and share inspiration during the World Economic Forum and to focus on aligning their endeavours with the seventeen goals that conform the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Meet the Leader - Davos 2023: Ingka Group’s Jeper Brodin "The talent crisis you’re not talking about"

More than 100 million displaced people struggle to find new work after fleeing war and chaos. To help refugees and asylum seekers find a true fresh start, Ingka Group (the chief owner and operator of IKEA retail) designed the Skills for Employment Initiative.

With its 3-6 months of training in language and other critical job skills, displaced people can find meaningful work at IKEA or other companies and get a true fresh start. In this episode, Ingka Group CEO Jesper
Brodin shared the lessons he has learned from this initiative and how, if scaled, programs like this one could play an important role in everything from tackling labor shortages to strengthening economies.

STHLM FinTech Week February 15-16, 2023

Sthlm Fintech Week is the largest fintech event in the whole of Sweden.

The Fintech community is brought together every year for five years, always with a focus on knowledge sharing, quality and relevance for everyone in the ecosystem. This year, the week will run from the 13th to the 17th of February. The main conference is held at Sergel Hub over the 15th and 16th, with engaging side events happening on the other days. 

With 10 tracks throughout the event, we dive as deep as possible into a wide range of Fintech verticals. Inviting everyone from expert speakers and investors to the CEOs of up-and-coming startups, Sthlm Fintech Week is the place to be for networking, collaborating and insightful learning. Organized by the fintech community itself, the goal this year is to be more international than ever before.

Meet Ingela Älvskog - New Priest of the Swedish Church in the Netherlands

The Swedish Chamber of Commerce gives a warm welcome to Ingela Älvskog, the newly arrived priest of the Swedish Church in the Netherlands.

"Until the fall of 2020, I lived in Värmland, in a sparsely populated area in Sweden. Then I decided it was time to see a little more of the world and I got a position within the Swedish Church Abroad which meant moving to Frankfurt. It was wonderful to live in a big city and now, just before the New Year, I have moved to start my new assignment in The Hague."

Business Climate Survey for Swedish Companies in the Netherlands 2022

The Dutch market has always been very important to Swedish Companies and continues to be so. The Netherlands is Sweden's seventh-largest export market and third-largest import market at SEK 162 billion in total 2021.

The Netherlands is an attractive market for Swedish companies with its logistically strategic location and high degree of  digitalisation, technology, innovation, and sustainability. The Netherlands is
 
also an interesting test market for onward expansion to other countries in Europe. The Dutch business climate bears clear resemblances to that of Sweden. Swedish companies and products enjoy a great reputation for innovation, tech, quality, as well as sustainability, among consumers.

The Business Climate Survey 2023 is currently in preparation. Many Swedish companies in the Netherlands will receive a request to fill in the survey within the coming weeks and we highly appreciate your collaboration.

The Swedish Chamber was very pleased to kick off the new year together with H.E. Ambassador of Sweden Johannes Oljelund, Honorary Members, members and guests. We toasted to a successful and prosperous year both personally and professionally, as well as to many successful meetings and business networking events with the Swedish Chamber of Commerce in the year to come.
