Stepping Into 2023

The start of a new year is always an opportunity for reflection and for excitement! As we close the books on a remarkable 2022, we are confident that God is propelling us forward in our mission to train and send the next generation for the nations!

Here are some updates and articles in this newsletter:

As always, we want to say 'Thank You!' We couldn't do any of these things without your prayers and support. Thank you for holding up the mission of SALT Next Gen Ministries!

On the Recruiting Trail!

We have been hitting the recruiting trail HARD since December and have already made big progress! In addition to making more inroads with campus ministries and Christian colleges and universities, we are speaking to more churches about who we are and what programs we have to offer to help train and send the next generation to the nations. Earlier in January, Tracey and Josh were able to do some recruiting on the campus of William Carey University in Hattiesburg, MS. Josh preached in the morning chapel to over 500 students. Just recently, our team was able to man a recruiting booth at the Conclave Convention in Chattanooga, TN. Conclave is a annual gathering of SBC youth pastors and student workers. There were over 750 at this year's convention! We had a great time sharing about our ministry with dozens of youth workers. We also got to connect with several Christian colleges and universities who were also there recruiting. Please pray for our ongoing recruiting efforts which are led by Benja, our Director of Mobilization and Gap Year Coordinator, and assisted by Caedmon, who is our Area Outreach Coordinator and Assistant Mobilizer.

New Programs and Opportunities for 2023

We are excited to announce the rollout of a our latest missions training opportunity for high school students! Introducing our Mission Advocate Program! This program, known by us as the M.A.P. program, is designed to train a high school student to be the voice for missions in his or her student ministry and church. Over the course of the school year, a M.A.P. student will learn how to:
  • advocate for missions, people groups, projects, and mission journeys
  • organize special mission-focus events
  • lead studies and training focused on missions
  • assist in leading a mission trip for your youth group
This training is open for high school students who apply and who have been recommended by their youth pastor or youth worker. Know anyone who might be interested? Find out more here.
We are launching our first online training cohort aimed at Youth Pastors and Student Workers! This is so exciting and, hopefully, the first of many. In this online cohort, Youth Pastors and Student Workers will learn essential strategies that will help them to integrate global missions into the heartbeat and rhythms of their ministry to students. We believe this will be of great value to churches and youth ministers as many are still seeking ways to restart their missions programs after the Covid era.

This is a three-part course which will run over three weeks starting in March. Here are the three sessions:
  1. Session 1: Understanding Missions
  2. Session 2: Creating a Culture for Missions
  3. Session 3: Integrating Missions into Your Ministry
Know a youth pastor or student worker who may benefit from this training? It is $175 for students who register between now and Jan 31st. After Feb 1st, the price goes up to $200 per student. Now is the time to register! Find out more here.

Meet our Summer 2023 G.O. Team to Japan

What an incredible start we have had to our recruiting ahead of our Summer 2023 G.O. Teams! We have officially filled our Japan G.O. Team with four students. Meet Caroline (Norwalk, CA), Jennifer (Eagan, MN), Matthew (Elizabeth, CO), and Madeline (Phoenix, AZ). This team will be heading to Japan to serve with IMB missionaries in both Tokyo and Kobe. Their travel dates are June 12-26. Please pray for them as they raise funds and prepare for this incredible gospel opportunity. Pray also for the IMB team in Japan and for the Gospel to go forward in the Land of the Rising Sun. Did you know that the Japanese are the #1 largest unreached people group on the planet? Read more and pray for them.

In the News: U.S. Government Refugee Sponsorship Program

A new program lets private citizens sponsor refugees in the U.S. This is yet another amazing Gospel opportunity for Christians and for the church in America to make an impact in the lives of those who come from places with little to no Gospel access. Read More

What is the "State of the World"?

Check out this "State of the World" video showing where our missionaries and finances are being used in the Christian missions world among unreached people groups. This video was published in 2015 but the situation hasn't improved! Information here and comes from Gordon Conwell Seminary's Center for the Study of Global Christianity and the Perspectives on the World Christian Movement course.
