Dear High School Teachers,
MSSF is just 10 weeks away, and we’re ramping up our support with office hours. Starting February 1, students (and teachers) can pop in to talk to us on Wednesdays between 6 and 7 PM. Help includes but is not limited to general problem-solving, data collection and analysis, conclusions and abstracts, and working on presentations. Visit our Students>Learn page for the Google Meets link.
We have two non-MSSF opportunities to share with you:
The Jackson Laboratory (JAX) offers a college scholarship to help underserved students pursue a degree in biomedicine. The JAX College Scholarship program will award a $10,000 scholarship to a graduating high school senior from Maine. You can nominate a student by February 15. The form asks that you write a short statement about why you are nominating this student for the JAX Scholarship.
The BioME Career Exploration event is for high school juniors and seniors, college students, recent graduates, and anyone looking to change careers. It will provide a great opportunity to speak with Maine life science companies. Workshops and breakout sessions will be geared toward students and new professionals looking to build on their life science-specific workforce skills. Students can register here for the free event, which will take place on February 8 at USM.
Have a great week,
The MSSF Team
