“FLOWERS OF ORINDA GARDENS" QUILT COULD BE YOURS!

The auction ends at the end of the month for this beautiful treasure from Orinda's past.

The quilt was designed in 1983 by longtime Orinda resident and award-winning quilter Liz Piatt and created by Liz and many members of the Orinda community. The quilt was originally made to be raffled at the Friends' annual Book Fair. Lovingly passed down through three generations and recently donated back to the Friends, it may be viewed in part (photos show the entire design) at the library in a glass case close to the circulation desk.

The quilt measures approximately 89” X 104-1/2” and would be appropriate for a full or queen coverlet or bedspread, or even a wall hanging. Embroidered and appliquéd flowers in both stylized and naturalistic designs represent those that grow in our local gardens.

The silent auction is now live (interested parties may enter their bids at the library) and will run until Tuesday, January 31st, 2023 at 8:00pm (closing hour). Proceeds will support the library-related activities and materials budget of the Friends of the Orinda Library.

Starting bid is $100 and bidders are requested to bid in $10 increments.
