Litany Of Humility

The Litany of Humility is a series of petitions in which we ask Jesus to deliver us from the various desires and fears that hold us back from being humble and replace them with renewed desires focused on Him and others rather than ourselves.

O Jesus! meek and humble of heart, hear me. 
From the desire of being esteemed, deliver me, O Jesus. 
From the desire of being loved, deliver me, O Jesus. 
From the desire of being extolled, deliver me, O Jesus. 
From the desire of being honored, deliver me, O Jesus. 
From the desire of being praised, deliver me, O Jesus. 
From the desire of being preferred to others, deliver me, O Jesus. 
From the desire of being consulted, deliver me, O Jesus. 
From the desire of being approved, deliver me, O Jesus. 
From the fear of being humiliated, deliver me, O Jesus. 
From the fear of being despised, deliver me, O Jesus. 
From the fear of suffering rebukes, deliver me, O Jesus. 
From the fear of being calumniated, deliver me, O Jesus.
 From the fear of being forgotten, deliver me, O Jesus. 
From the fear of being ridiculed, deliver me, O Jesus.
 From the fear of being wronged, deliver me, O Jesus. 
From the fear of being suspected, deliver me, O Jesus.
 That others may be loved more than I, Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it. 
That others may be esteemed more than I, Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it. 
That, in the opinion of the world, others may increase and I may decrease,
Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
 That others may be chosen and I set aside, Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it. 
That others may be praised and I unnoticed, Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it. 
That others may be preferred to me in everything, Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it. 
That others may become holier than I, provided that I may become as holy as I should,
Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.

This Week

S.H.A.P.E.

Tonight, 6:00pm – 8:00pm
S.H.A.P.E. is an interactive workshop designed to help people figure out and assess their Spiritual gifts, Heart, Abilities, Personality, and Experiences, and how all of those together with God's leading will allow them to step into purposeful ministry opportunities wherever they are in life. Our desire is to help equip and empower those who take the class to take bold steps of faith in whatever areas they see God activating, moving, and directing them.

This assessment is online, so please bring a laptop or tablet. There's no cost and no childcare.

Grace Kids Nights

Wednesday, January 18, 6:00pm – 7:30pm
Grace Kids Nights are a once a month event for 4th and 5th graders to get together outside of the usual Sunday morning gatherings. Grace Kids Nights are a fun time with pizza, games, a Biblical message, and small group discussions all while connecting with leaders and friends. This is a great chance for kids to develop stronger relationships with their friends and grow deeper in their faith of Jesus.

Men's Dinner - Community Transformation '23

Join us for an evening of fellowship, food, and a powerful message from our guest speaker: Eldridge J. Broussard III. El is the founder and CEO of Broussard Foundation, Inc, a non-profit organization dedicated to mentoring youth and strengthening the family and community of those the company serves. His leadership helped transform the start-up non-profit from an unfunded idea to a successful organization that has helped hundreds of at-risk kids become responsible and productive citizens.

But El's background goes beyond business success. He has also transformed his own life, going from a ward of the State of Oregon's Foster Care system, its juvenile justice system, and ultimately, the Oregon State Correctional System to becoming a respected community leader and business professional.

This is an evening not to miss, an evening to bring the men in your community group or cohort, an evening to invite your co-worker or neighbor, or an evening to bring one of your kids with you. All families and kids are different, and we might suggest middle school and up as an appropriate age.
