The Second Sunday of Epiphany
Epiphany is the time for new awakenings, for realisations. The beautifully simple pen-and-ink drawings you see here are by Charles Mackesy from his book which appeals to all ages ‘The boy, the mole, the fox and the horse’ (2019, Ebury Press). An unlikely set of friends!
‘Yes’ we think as we see this and read the caption – of course. However difficult life is, we are loved, infinitely loved, by our God who is the source of all love.
This last Christmas Eve on BBC televison there was a first showing of an animated film based on Charles Mackesy’s drawings, in which we see the bond these four characters develop and the love they have for each other, and we overhear their nuggets of wisdom on life, friendship and companionship.
This coming Sunday, the second in Epiphany, we will see how this relates to the opening of Paul’s first letter to the Corinthians. The messages we can glean seem particularly appropriate to Christ Church Lausanne as we seek our way forward as a community.
Welcome to a service of Morning Prayer!
Angela Fall, lay minister
Collect for the 2nd Sunday of Epiphany
Eternal Lord,
our beginning and our end:
bring us with the whole of creation
to your glory, hidden through past ages
and made known
in Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
