The Idaho Foodbank Warehouse Closure
Please keep in mind that all of The Idaho Foodbank’s warehouses will be closed for both pick-up and delivery on January 26th and January 27th for inventory. Inventory checks allow for a better shopping experience for all partners.

We will also be closed for both pick-up and delivery on Monday, February 20th for President’s Day. If you need any help rescheduling your pick-up or delivery for any of these days, please contact your local Idaho Foodbank representative or email partnerships@idahofoodbank.org.

Nonprofit Updates
Support for Idahoans in Crisis
Mental health is a vital part of everyone’s overall health and well-being. The Idaho Foodbank is committed to collaborating to support the health of all Idahoans. Idaho has the fifth highest suicide rate in the country and we recognize the immediate and pressing need for mental health resources. The Idaho Crisis & Suicide Hotline provides 24/7 free and confidential suicide and behavioral health crisis intervention. Anyone can call the hotline for themself or for someone they care about by dialing or texting 988 or by visiting idahocrisis.org to chat online.

A trained crisis counselor will be on the other end of the line, ready to help. They are available to help Idahoans struggling with mental and emotional problems; family or relationship problems; trouble with drugs or alcohol; and more.

Find Help Idaho
Findhelpidaho.org now has a QR code for its website. It is a great way to help clients find other resources that they might need in their area through their smartphones. Please consider sharing the QR code with your neighbors who visit your pantry.

Partner Highlight
Give Hope Food Pantry
Every year, Give Hope Food Pantry in Eagle puts together Christmas turkey dinners for some of their regular patrons. In recent years, those receiving the dinners have also been given gifts for their children.

This year, thirty-three families received a dinner box and 76 children received gifts.

Kathy Jones and her daughter Kari Estabrook are seen here among the boxes of food and gifts. Kathy works all year collecting the gifts and then wrapping and organizing them for distribution at Christmas time.

Wellness Corner
Back to Nutrition Basics with My Plate
MyPlate, designed by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), is a framework for determining which foods to incorporate into one's diet. Previously known as the Food Pyramid, MyPlate provides guidance on how much and which types of the five food groups - Vegetables, Fruits, Grains, Protein, and Dairy – to consume as part of a healthy diet. The MyPlate model is based on the Dietary Guidelines for Americans 2020-2025, which are guidelines on what to eat and drink to meet nutrient needs, promote health, and prevent disease.

The MyPlate graphic shows that vegetables and fruits should make up half of what we eat. Grains and protein should fill the other half, along with a smaller portion of dairy products. The daily recommendations for each food group vary depending on age. To learn more about food group servings specific to your age and gender, visit MyPlate.gov.
