Jesuit Colleges & Universities to Commemorate MLK Day
Beginning next week, a variety of events will be hosted by Jesuit colleges and universities across the country to honor the memory of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and prepare for Black History Month. Click on the following school names to learn more:
Earlier this week, Saint Louis University hosted its first MLK memorial tribute in three years, featuring a conversation with Sybrina Fulton (pictured right), activist and mother of Trayvon Martin.

AJCU's Anti-Racism Examen Featured in America
In the past two years since AJCU launched Eyes to See: An Anti-Racism Examen, faculty, administrators and staff at Jesuit colleges and universities across the country have participated in it both on campus and online. A new article in America highlights the Examen and the way it has been designed to advance education on racial justice and anti-racism.

It's been another busy week on our campuses! Here's the latest news: the College of the Holy Cross' president, Vincent D. Rougeau, J.D., was the inaugural guest for a new higher ed podcast, "Trusted Voices"; Creighton University received a National Endowment for the Humanities grant to support first-generation students in health professions, in partnership with Arizona State University; Fairfield University established a new executive doctorate of business education program; a team of Fordham University professors received a grant from the Cummings Foundation to fund research on migration and human dignity; Loyola Marymount University named its next Visiting Jesuit Scholar for the Spring 2023 semester; a Loyola University Chicago professor's research on hemp's ability to reduce lead in soil was profiled by Chicago's NPR affiliate; a Marquette University professor received a $2.66M U.S. Department of Education grant to support mental health training for school counselors; Regis University announced plans for a new scholarship campaign, "Dare to Reimagine"; Rockhurst University's work to create sustainable solutions for aging campus buildings was featured in National Catholic Reporter; Saint Louis University entered into a partnership with Jesuit Worldwide Learningto offer a Bachelor's degree program for refugees; Seattle University received a National Science Foundation grant to support student research on open-source data tools; the University of Detroit Mercy announced a new Triptych visiting poetry series for the Spring 2023 semester; and the University of San Francisco received $15M from the recently auctioned Ann and Gordon Getty Collection to help fund the new Ann Getty Institute of Art & Design on campus.

Over the past two weeks, four Jesuit schools have lost beloved members of their Jesuit communities: Rev. John A. Apel, S.J. of Saint Louis University; Rev. Joseph G. Mueller, S.J. of the Jesuit School of Theology at Santa Clara University; Rev. Patrick B. O'Leary, S.J. of Seattle University; and Rev. Stephen F. Campbell, S.J. of Spring Hill College. We mourn their passing and pray for their families and campus communities. May they rest in peace.
