Here are some things I'd like to share with you from the past week:

New fund will protect thousands of renters in B.C.
BC is keeping more affordable rental buildings in the hands of local non-profits, and out of the hands of speculators and profiteers. This new $500-million Rental Protection fund will protect thousands of renters across the province.

Nurses receive support to join B.C.’s health system more quickly
We’re making it easier for internationally educated nurses to work in our health care system. These nurses will no longer need to pay application and assessment fees, which can cost more than $37,000. We’re committed to increasing access to health care for everyone in BC, and removing barriers for nurses to join our health care workforce is one part of that plan.

Province adds more items to B.C.’s recycling system
People across the province can now recycle more single-use plastics and other materials in their blue bins at home and at recycling depots. This includes single-use cutlery and dishes, aluminum foil, and more. By making it easier to recycle, we’re making sure less waste ends up in our landfills or in our environment.

Labour Force Survey Results
As British Columbians navigated new global challenges throughout 2022, last year's job numbers show that we’re stronger when we work together. We defied the odds and added 62,900 new jobs in 2022 while our unemployment remains near all-time historic lows at 4.2%. “In 2022, we launched our StrongerBC Economic Plan to build a clean economy that works for everyone. These job numbers show that our focus on people is supporting good-paying jobs throughout B.C., even as we see new global uncertainties on the horizon,” said Brenda Bailey, Minister of Jobs, Economic Development and Innovation.
