January 2023 Ranch Updates |
It is hard to believe it is already the middle of January! We still have a few more months of winter to get through but everyone is doing well. Our horses greatly appreciate our hard-working volunteers who have shown up this past month through snow, ice, rain and mud! |
|
| Happy New Year! Boy, am I happy to see 2023. The last few weeks of 2022 around the ranch were a bit snowy, frosty, icy and then very soggy. As you know, I like a good roll in the mud as much as the next mule, but boy was I slipping around, and these hips are not what they used to be. We recently welcomed two new herd members, Maisie and Elvis. Learn more about my two new friends below. As much as I like getting new friends, it meant I couldn't do my ranch rounds for two whole weeks! Being new, they needed to go through a quarantine period, so they had to wait to meet their new boss at the ranch, Me! I am so glad that is over, so I am back to supervising everyone again. I could tell I was missed and best of all, I can eat in the kitchen again! |

I also wanted to give you an update on my friend, Casino. Casino is still healing well from her surgery and is in good spirits. She is back to her antics of banging her grain feeder against her pen, over and over again to trick the humans into giving her more. I am on to you Casino! |

Welcome Maisie and Elvis! |
These beautiful seniors came from different homes, but both were from loving homes where they just could no longer be cared for due to various circumstances. We are glad they trusted us to care for their beloved horses. Both horses are available for foster or adoption. Contact us for more information. |

Maisie is a morgan/quarter horse estimated to be in her mid to late 20’s. She is a little timid, but easy to handle and really wants to please. Maisie is potentially capable of light trail rides, but due to her age, would need to be formally evaluated further. She would make a gentle, loving companion! |
| Elvis is a 27-year Quarter horse cross. He is a large boy, all black with a white blaze and one white foot. He is curious, kind, friendly and loves attention. Elvis may still have potential for light riding but would need to be evaluated further. This gentle giant would make a great companion to humans and other equines in a loving home. |

Looking for a Forever Home - Maggie |
| Maggie is a 15 hand, registered Quarter Horse who has been diagnosed with Wobbler Syndrome. She has a super sweet personality and is very people friendly. Maggie adores attention. She would appreciate a home where someone would care for her and make her feel extra special. Maggie is available to foster or adopt. If you are able to open your heart and barn to a foster, Equine Outreach covers all expenses. And if you have room for 2, her best friend, Bon Bon, would love to come along! Interested?
