Leadership Summit: Help VQHA grow and better serve the membership
We invite all members and potential members to join us to help plan the direction for VQHA. We had tremendous growth last year and look forward to ways to enhance our services to members and other exhibitors, as well as horse owners and riders across the state.
Location: Hilton Garden Inn at Insbrook in Glenn Allen VA
When: Sat Jan 21 12pm- 6, and Sun Jan 22 8am- 12pm
Goals
- Discuss the current state, and Future of VQHA.
- Develop workflow and organizational strategies to help improve our efficiency
- Document more clear and concise executive and committee duties and expectations
- Discuss strategies for better member relationships and transparency

VQHA presents: Best Year Yet Kickoff Event Clinic and Field Trip Day
Clinic with Tommy Sheets and Shannon Quinlan Hill
Tommy will focus on horsemanship, Trail and Showmanship. Shannon’s focus will be on Ranch Riding, Reining and Ranch Trail.
When: Saturday March 4, 8am to 5:30 pm
Where: Meadow Event Park in Doswell, VA
Cost: $150 per participant (lunch included); auding fee $25 (includes haul-in for 1 horse; lunch may be purchased); Each additional horse is $10
Stalls: $45 (Friday night/all day Sat); shavings $9/bag
Camping: $45/night

For nonparticipants: bring your horses for a field trip. There will an extra ring for schooling.
Each clinician will have a maximum of 16 participants divided into 2 sections (participants may work with only one clinician)

A message from the membership director
Be sure to look at your membership card to see when your membership expires. You must be a member (and your horse must be nominated) to be eligible for year-end awards. If you are an amateur or youth, make sure your membership reflects your status accurately.

Saying goodbye to my friend

We have all been there. The day we had to put our best friend down. Whether it be a horse, dog, cat, it’s all the same. It’s hard. A good friend of mine recently put her horse down due to laminitis. It brought on a host of terrible terrible memories for me and the memories of all the friends I’ve had to bury came rushing back.

Open, amateur, youth opportunities in the rookie division at VQHA shows
Rookie classes are offered in all three AQHA divisions – open, amateur and youth. These classes are great introduction for riders to AQHA showing and provide a terrific environment to try out a new class. Review your and your horse's eligibility here.

2023 VQHA Horseback Riding Program
Take advantage of this program to earn awards for the hours you have ridden or ground-exercised either your American Quarter Horse or other breed horse. This is a unique opportunity to earn awards outside of traditional competitions and is available to VQHA, VAQHA and VQHYA members.
