January newsletter from Anne Stine Fine Art

BIG NEWS this NEW YEAR!

Happy New Year friends! I have so much to share with you this month. Read on to learn about new offerings for both collectors and students.

NEW COLLECTION IN THE WORKS

Every year, it's my intent to focus on a new collection centered around a theme that fires the imagination. Over the years, you've seen me focus on the elements of horizon, sky, and water in my impressionistic landscapes created in my trademark style of using vivid color, dramatic texture, and luminesce.

In 2023, I've decided to pursue a longtime interest in abstraction. This new collection will still be inspired by nature with a more contemporary, simplified style. You can expect to see texture, transparency, and shape play a major role in this new series of geological abstracts.

Why the focus on rock? When I pondered what imagery to focus on this year, I discovered that earth, especially rock forms, have made a strong impression on me since childhood. Abstract rock imagery represents a form of storytelling I wish to develop and explore through texture, shape, and multiple layers of transparent color.

Next month's "New Art" email released February 1, will contain paintings in this new series. Make sure to look out for the email and my social media for behind-the-scenes videos to learn more about the inspiration behind this series.

NEW SOLO SHOW

The geological abstract collection will make it's major debut in a solo show exhibited at the Athenaeum on September 7 - October 15. This exhibit of 20 plus paintings in a variety of sizes will include artwork that has never been scene before its unveiling in this beautiful venue. The Athenaeum is a historic building located in Old Town Alexandria, that exhibits contemporary art by regional artists. It's home to the Northern Virginia Fine Arts Association (NVFAA), a membership organization dedicated to the maintenance and preservation of the building and the celebration of regional arts. Keep an eye out for the reception date in future newsletters and on social media.

NEW GALLERY

I'm honored to announce that I've been selected as a new member of Touchstone Gallery! Founded in 1976, Touchstone is an award-winning contemporary art gallery located in downtown Washington DC, near CityCenter. Touchstone Gallery, artist-member owned, was named "Best of DC" by Washington City Paper readers over several consecutive years, and has received recognition for enriching the community through the arts from District government. With new exhibitions every month, visitors experience a constantly-changing display of original artwork. My exhibited work will include contemporary landscapes as well as my new geological abstracts.

Please let me know what you would like to see in an online class by completing the survey HERE. Watch for additional details about this class in future newsletters.
