A friendly reminder that expressions of interest for the Lived Experience Access Fund (LEAF) are due on 24 January.   

LEAF is a new funding opportunity to enable those who have experienced harm through gambling to actively participate in the research process of studies intended to reduce gambling-related harm.  Applicants must be a UK-based entity (charity, organisation, group, or consortium) representing or led by people with lived experience of gambling-related harm to design and administer the fund. The total amount available is £25,000 (£20,000 to distribute to people with lived experience and £5,000 to the successful organisation to administer the funds).  

The deadline for expressions of interest is 24 January 2023 at 5 PM (GMT). Applications are due 14 February 2023 at 5 PM (GMT).

About the AFSG


The AFSG is a group of academic researchers dedicated to advancing the research needed to effectively prevent, reduce, and address gambling harm. The purpose of the AFSG is to act as a coordinated body to assert the importance of rigorous, independent research to prevent, reduce, and address gambling harm in the UK. To accomplish its aims, the AFSG engages in a number of activities, including but not limited to: 
  • Responding to or initiating calls for evidence; 
  • Providing seed grants for promising research; 
  • Supporting independent gambling conferences; 
  • Public engagement; and 
  • Providing support for early-career researchers.
All AFSG activities and grants are funded from regulatory settlements for socially responsible purposes. More information about the funds can be found on our website.
