Sweet Greetings,

 

Even though it doesn't feel like a new year for me until the wildflowers bloom, I can feel the promise of spring bubbling, both within & all around. The birds are already changing their tunes, the aloes are sending out flowering stalks reaching for the light, and the hummingbirds and bees are zesting the air with a warming bzzzzz.

Though winter is often a time of quietude for most, here in the desert, we are savoring the cool air while it lasts, watching the verdant greening of the land take hold as we catch a bit of the rains coming in from the west coast. If you look closely enough, the saguaro cacti literally swell with satisfaction, drinking up all the water in their now plump bodies, while the chaparral re-animates overnight with resinous saturation. I am reminded by all of this, that while some blessings take time to unfold in our lives, others can literally spring up in an instant.
