The Board finalized committee and site assignments for the 2023 calendar year.

By visiting our buildings during the school day, board members can gain additional understanding of the education process, while also creating a level of exposure to the amazing teachers, students, and support staff we have in our district. The additional perspective supports the Board as it makes decisions related to the priorities of our district.

MSBA Leadership Conference Notes

Board members who attended the recent MSBA Leadership Conference on Jan. 12-13 shared notes with the full Board. Conference attendees shared that they attended a number of valuable breakout sessions on various topics. Board members also noted that the keynote address by Dr. Adolph Brown, titled "Reflective Leaders are Effective Leaders" was captivating and beneficial. 

Board Discusses WREAP Process and Timeline

Superintendent Gersich provided the Board an update on the Waconia Public Schools Resources in Education Allocation Planning (WREAP) process and timeline. He also shared that a community survey will be sent to all district families the week of January 23 to give external stakeholders an opportunity to share ideas and comments regarding the current budget process. Building and program leaders will continue to facilitate opportunities for internal stakeholders to share their ideas and concerns.

Director of Finance and Operations Ra Chhoth provided the Board an update on the current fiscal year budget projections. He will give the Board a full presentation on the fiscal year 2022-23 revised budget at the January 30 Regular Meeting. 

Looking Ahead 

At the Monday, January 30 Regular Meeting, Board members will receive a report from Middle School Principal Shane Clausen and Media Specialist and Technology Integrationist Mandy Bellm regarding the school's implementation of its new Tier Two Intervention called Wild Time.
