2022 Sabin Gold Medal and Rising Star Awards

Awarded annually, the Sabin Gold Medal and Rising Star Award honor individuals who have made extraordinary contributions to immunization and global health. These awards commemorate the legacy of the late Dr. Albert B. Sabin, who discovered the oral polio vaccine and dedicated his life to ensuring everyone in the world had access to vaccines.

In 2022, the Sabin Vaccine Institute honored two extraordinary scientists for their breakthrough vaccine research that changed the course of the COVID-19 pandemic, advanced public health, and saved countless lives.

Nominations are submitted in strict confidence and will be reviewed by a selection committee put together by Sabin leaders. Our Board of Trustees votes to decide the 2023 award recipients.

If you have questions, please contact Brian Shaw, Senior Manager, Operations & Events, at brian.shaw@sabin.org.
