Director's Welcome

A Happy New Year to you all on  behalf of the African Studies Center  (ASC)! I trust that you all enjoyed the  winter holiday season, had some needed  rest, and are ready for a new semester and  year as we continue to emerge out of the  worst parts of the pandemic to a new ‘post- pandemic’ normal. Thank you all for your  continued engagement and support, and  for  the great work you do to celebrate  Africa, advance knowledge, transform  lives  through research-based solutions, on training, and outreach that make MSU stand out among global universities in the depth and breadth of involvement in Africa. Join me to also thank the close–knit ASC staff for their dedication, professionalism, creative adaptability in the face of COVID-19. I particularly thank my predecessor, Dr. Jamie Monson, for her dedicated, visionary, and highly impactful seven years at the helm of the Center, keeping it a premier African Studies Center globally.X

As we start the new semester, here are selected highlights from fall, and focus in spring.
