The Global Methodist Church

FMC has voted to join the GMC

Following the worship service on Sunday, February 5, First Methodist Carrollton voted 173 to 1 in favor of joining the Global Methodist Church, as recommended by the Church Council. FMC's mission remains the same…"Filling every neighborhood with the Good News of God’s Love!"

The official date of disaffiliation from the United Methodist Church and affiliation with the Global Methodist Church is April 1, 2023. As we continue through this process, keep checking eNews for all of the latest information on what is happening next.

Missions Week

February 12 & 19

The Missions Team is sponsoring events on February 12 and 19 to communicate to the church all about the mission efforts we support, and to educate and challenge the church to understand best practices in missions and why we do what we do. On February 19, at the end of worship, we ask for Faith Promise commitments from individuals and families with emphasis on praying about giving as God provides, over and above their usual tithes and gifts, specifically for missions and funding the things we can support.

Core Groups

Groups begin meeting the week of Sunday, February 26

Join a Core Group for this 7-week Lenten study as we go through the MasterWork study, “Joyful Surrender: 7 Disciplines for the Believer’s Life” by Elisabeth Elliot. Core Groups are small gatherings of up to 8 people that meet weekly, either on Zoom or in-person, during Lent for fellowship, relational community, and accountability. Each meeting is around 50 minutes long.

In Other News...

Missions Week concludes at 6 PM on February 19 with our Annual International Dinner. The dinner will feature foods prepared by our members and Conversation Hour participants from their home countries. The Cambodian Fellowship will provide the main course, and guests will be able to taste new foods and chat with the people who prepared them. Get more information.
First Kids needs volunteer teachers during the 10:30 AM service for our BLAST! Children's Church. There is flexibility in your commitment. We need help training and discipling the next generation of believers! If you are interested, reach out to Tiffany Briley.
Methodist Men will be hosting a Breakfast and Cornhole Tournament on Saturday, March 25! All guys of the church and community 13 years of age and older are invited for good fun, great fellowship, and friendly competition. Learn more and sign-up.
