Happy Friday!

We had a wonderful Catholic Schools Week and stayed warm in the very cool temps! Get ready for a lot of pictures! Have a wonderful weekend.

Gerit McAllister

Principal for the Day

Today, 5th grader Mia Swedlow cashed in her Principal for a Day prize from Art and Soul last year. She did an excellent job! She read to classes, made some new school rules, and even called her brother down to the principal’s office.

As principal for the day, Ms. Swedlow was allowed to change up a few rules temporarily. They are as follows:

Monday, February 13th: PJ day
Tuesday, February 14th: Valentine’s Day colors
Wednesday, February 15th: Out of uniform
Thursday, February 16th: No homework day

Every class will also get an extra recess during the week of 2/13.  Keep a look out for a sign up genius link to help supervise.

Thanks Principal Swedlow!

Catholic Schools Week

Catholic Schools Week started with a beautiful mass on Sunday and continued each day this week. We were able to celebrate all that is special about AACA and all Catholic Schools.

Calendar 2023-2024

The Archdiocese is releasing their calendar guidelines on Monday, February 6th. I hope to show our calendar to the school board and instructional leadership team and have it approved by the Archdiocese shortly after. I will then send it to our community as soon as possible.

Vision and Hearing Screenings

Vision and hearing results for those grades that participated, will be sent home today. Please make sure to check your child’s backpack.

Art & Soul: Planting the Seeds for Tomorrow, Friday March 10th, Rockwell on the River

Tickets for Art & Soul are now available for purchase!   We’re excited to be at a new venue this year.   Purchase individual tickets or a table for 10 or 12 on the Art & Soul website. ArtandSoul — AACA.  Hope to see you on March 10th!

Donate to the Wine Pull/Bourbon Toss

We’re making it easy to donate a bottle of wine or bourbon (valued at $30 and above).  On Friday February 10th, we’re doing a donation drive after school.  Just bring your bottle(s) of wine/bourbon to the back parking lot during pick-up and an Art & Soul committee member will be there to collect it.
You can also order from Binny’s South Loop and they will deliver it to the venue for the wine pull/bourbon toss.  Just call 312-768-4400, option 2, and place your order over the phone!  Unsure of what to purchase? Here is a list of recommendations.

Please reach out to Alexandra Obushenko with any questions (alexandra.obushenko@gmail.com).

Athletics

Our 6th grade boys basketball teams had a fun opportunity on Tuesday and played during the halftime game of DePaul vs UConn! Hopefully this will become a yearly tradition for our students!
